Hello! This is my first post here after scrounging around for answers and I'm still feeling a little overwhelmed. Let me start out with my story: I met my boyfriend online and we had instantly clicked together, after being together for a year we have decided to get married so that we can live together. Currently, I am in the States while he is in Canada. We are planning on getting married sometime late June and early July in the states. My mind is still a bit jumbled right now but here's a few of the questions I had.

From what I understand I should begin the paperwork now, or at least getting the medical exams, state clearance, and FBI clearance... (And I'm still not quite sure how to go about getting all of these).

This is one of the things that throws me: What if I do this before we leave but it ends up not being done until AFTER I'm already in Canada?

Or, is it possible to wait until after we're in Canada to get all this information?

We were planning on asking for an extension in my stay as we cross the border... We plan on brining my car and my stuff with us as well so we would need proof that we've started the application, correct?

And, from what I understand it's quicker to send outland than inland. So I'd still be able to possbily return to the States and back to Canada?

I'd also like to know if selling art online would be considered working in Canada? I haven't officially started this yet, but I was wondering if it's possible to do while still waiting for the PR.

Am I allowed to take sewing classes, etc. while waiting? Because that is something that interests me and I intend on doing.

Thanks to those who respond. I'd like to start working on things tomorrow if possible/or is the best option.

Medicals good for 12 months, FBI and police clearances are good for 6 I think (maybe 3). It is possible to get them while in Canada, however not sure if it's easier than getting them in the states.

I do not recommend trying to move there before you land, if you get a VR to stay while awaiting for PR that does not entitle you to move there.

I wouldn't recommend doing anything that is considered work, if you get caught there can be unfortunate consequences.

If you come in on a VR you are not allowed to work or study, even volunteer work is limited.
