Dear Folks,

Based on the following statements on my PPR from Buffalo, I am sending a representative (a friend of mine) who lives in USA to collect my and my spouse's immigrant visas.

"You may send a representative with your passports. Your representative must have your written authorization and will be required to show photo identification."

As mentioned on the PPR, the representative will take with him our passports, three photographs of each applicant, completed PPR letter, and an authorization letter singed by me, my spouse, and the representative himself. These documents are being sent to him over the airmail.

Now I will highly appreciate if you guys can help me with the following questions based on your experiences.

[1] What documents should I expect to get back from the representative other than the passports over the airmail? Does Buffalo provide any document other than the passports after placing immigrant visas in them?

[2] Do I have to use any special format in writing the authorization letter? I took help from "IMM5476E: Use of a Reprentative" (
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5476E.PDF) while writing the authorization letter. Do I have to complete "IMM5476E: Use of a Representative" form for this representative rather than writing a customized authorization letter?

[3] I am in Canada on study permit. Do I have to send my study permit with my passport?

Thanks for reading and your kind reply.
why not just ask Buffalo to mail it for ya?
seriously, when your friend goes over there, i guess wait...this that..OMG.
i mailed my passport with Post Canada express, got it back in two weeks.

to answer your question 1, landing paper, entrance visa
2. that's for lawyer only
3. send the whole things

Because Buffalo will not mail outside their processing area, US/Canada/Bermuda, that is the same for all offices, except London.

PMM
I think OP stated that they are in Canada on a study permit.
I would just mail it instead of the hassle of having a friend do it.
Even them - you have to send it to the friend & wait for them to send it back.

Cut out the middle man & send it yourself

well, then that's the applicant's problem then, you are supposed to live in Canada/US when you apply Buffalo

OP says he's on a study permit in Canada, he's also made it as far as PPR - he should just send it from Canada & have it send back to him in Canada
