I was just wondering if it matters where I get my medical done. I have the option of either Vancouver BC or Seattle but I am filing outland. I just read that the cost may be cheaper in Vancouver. I just don't know if that will mess up my application or do both Vancouver & Seattle send the medical results to Buffalo?
I don't want to complicate things or have things not line up. :)
THanks so much!!!
You can get the medical done in either location - the DMP will send the results to the Regional Medical Centre that serves Buffalo (actually that serves all of North America) and that's Ottawa, ON. All you need is the form/receipt that shows that you got the exam done - that goes with your application. The DMP takes care of the rest. So choose the least expensive option.
Great thanks so much!!! :) I have been waiting since February to receive my FBI prints and soc security form that lists my employment history and they finally just charged my credit card so I am hoping it's in the PO Box when I go on Saturday and I can finally get this stuff finished and sent off. :) I appreciate your help so much!!! :)
Anytime! All the best.

Thanks so much!!! I saw an email between us from January 2009 and can't believe I still haven't even sent in my application. It's been a long journey but MUCH longer for you and I see that you WON your appeal so I am soooooooo happy for you!!!
How long do you think it will be for you now? I hope it is smooth sailing ahead for you!!! Even though I haven't been in the process waiting it feels like I have all these years. :( I just want the little card in my hand so I can feel NORMAL being in either Canada or the US!!! ;)
Wishing you the best too!!! Thank you!!!
You can have medical tests done in Canada but apply from outside as previously mentioned (my costs were $423 plus courier fee for results)
Just wondering.. you said you are waiting for your "soc security form that lists my employment history" is that a normal requirement? What class are you applying?
Thank you for sharing your costs. I was quoted $380 from the doctor in Seattle so it sounds like it's about the same if yours was in Canada. I just heard others saying they had it done cheaper than that but I haven't actually called any doctors in Vancouver.
I am applying for family class as a spouse.
The reason I sent away for my employment history is my records are all in storage buried and I didn't want to drag the whole storage apart to find them. Going back to age 18 I don't have addresses and all that so the only way I could find that was to send away for a detailed report from social security which lists the employers and not sure what else but it's more detailed than an earnings report from Social Security and I am having it certified and will send a copy along with my application for proof so that may help too. I sent that off back in February and they just now charged my credit card so it took about 7 weeks but not sure when it will be mailed. So it's not the quickest way to do it. So no it's not required.
Thanks again!!! :)
It would have cost me 3-4 times as much to have my physical in Miami (the closest certified doctor to St. Pete) as it did in Edmonton, and I didn't have a long drive and hotel room to deal with. Back then there was a different form for inland and outland. Don't know if that is still the case.
My hubby's was $172 in Burnaby BC.
Most are under $200 in Canada, I called around to several places.
I know this post is old :)
I think it was bumped because of the person I suspect is a spammer in disguise - advertising a link to chicago condos.
Do you only need to bring the appendix C when you have the medical done? I have heard some people talk about bringing photos and such.
Thanks.
Yes, you need Appendix C and photos done. There is regional instructions for that.
If you are applying outland from the USA for example you'll need to use the instructions & forms specifically for that.
You can get region specific forms and instructions here, scroll down to the country that the person being sponsored is from:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information...asp#region
Then see "Appendix B Photo Specifications" and fill out "Appendix C"
If you are applying inland you will need inland instructions, which I don't have handy.
Ok perfect. I have already printed the instructions and such out. He is going to be applying outland from USA, I am the one living in Canada. So even though this is being done IN Canada, I still choose United States, as it goes by where he is from? Will he need to do the medical, before the applications are sent, or will they request it at sometime?
Thanks so much, we are getting married in 2 weeks and one day and should have started this LONG ago. Time has flown by SO quickly :(
Yes, my hubby is from the USA and I sponsored him. He got his medical done here in BC and brought the forms for Outland USA. So yes, you bring the US forms.
You need to do the medical up front. In fact, everything must be sent in all at the same time.
(FBI, medical, payments, etc.)
Great! I will have to get going with the medical ASAP. I will call around on Tuesday. I am just worried about getting the wrong Doctor, or them not knowing what they are doing. I guess its always a gamble.
Do you know what the "usual" cost would be? I have heard alot about people being charged WAY to much and thinking something is not right about their doctor. I guess its probably different everywhere.
Thanks again!
I have noticed you have steps in your signature, do they keep you informed as they go along? And when the time comes to send your passport, did your hubby have to go back to the US for that, or is he able to stay for the waiting duration of the app's? Im just curious as my fiancee has been with me since April and I am not sure how it all works. I have not been able to find him ANY sort of work, so he is living off of his savings :( But we will do what we have to do to be together in the end :)
Where in Canada will you be getting it done? I'm assuming you have a list of DMP's (they are specific doctors that are the only ones allowed to do the immigration medial exam).
If you are in the Vancouver area I can recommend a very good DMP, the cost is under $200.
Most in Canada are under $200. My hubby's was around $170 total (exam and xray).
