I posted this in the FBI Is Slow thread, but I thought this matter might better be suited for its own thread.

After waiting 8 weeks for my national clearance, I received word from the FBI just yesterday that my prints have been rejected due to poor quality. I have to get them done all over again, but they've already processed the fee and the file is open, so maybe it will go faster this time.

Do I need to make a new cover letter, and put a new Reason Requested/Needed By date on the envelope? Since it's already in the middle of being processed (and they didn't return my cover letter or anything), I don't know if that would confuse them or not. I'm going to safely assume that they *don't* need a new date.
I would at least write on the outside of the envelope that the request is for "Canadian Immigration" and put a due date of a couple of weeks. When they open the envelope, they'll know it's an open file - but before that it's just another envelope in a pile of hundreds. Don't assume anything - repeat everything if you have to . . . you're the one who cares how fast it gets done.
