Hi, after looking into options, me and my partner also thought about me taking an apprenticeship with Durham college in plumbing.. And after contacting them, they've told me i will probably need a work visa and a study visa, plus a letter or something from the immigration office allowing me to study in Canada.
Just wondering if anyone else has taken an apprenticeship in Canada and how it went, their experience and also the process to actually start.. what forms do i have to get, how much it may cost (i should be earning in the apprenticeship, and already have a place to stay permanently so really just the fee's and tool hire costs etc) and how long the process takes (from applying for the visa's, to landing in Canada, to finishing a standard plumbing course) ?
Also, where might i start in finding an employer who takes on apprentices? I've heard it may be hard as they have to prove a Canadian can't take the job or something?
While studying I'll be working towards a common law with my girlfriend.. I assume doing it this way is possible and shouldn't have any trouble with this?
Thanks all
(info about me: 20yr old, English, completed high school with a-levels, plus i have a year of uni completed, as well as various work; warehouse etc Laura is Canadian and i wish to be there with her)
Also wasn't sure where to post concerning study visa's in Canada. This is a repost of one i posted in family class
