Hi, everyone. Just wanted to post about my landing. It was surprisingly quick and easy. We used the St. Stephen's border crossing in New Brunswick. I showed our passports to the officer in the booth and then went inside. The IO was training an new officer who hadn't seen an IM-1 Visa or done a landing before. I was asked to verify that all the info on the CPR forms was correct, and signed the papers. It took an hour, but only because the senior officer walked the new officer through every aspect the computer system. They were both friendly. The whole thing felt actually felt pretty informal, which surprised me but came as a relief! I haven't tackled getting a health card and SIN yet but I will next week. Right now it feels great to relax.
Congratulations! :)
I know all about that "Right now it feels good to relax" feeling... It's such a relief, isn't it?
SIN application is simple. My hubby's took quite a bit of time because he got a young man who was in training with a supervisor... lol. But the process itself was simple.
Congratulations!
You can download the form for the SIN here:
https://catalogue.servicecanada.gc.ca/La...S/LaunchES and take it along with you to the nearest Service Canada Centre - along with the following documents:
Confirmation of Permanent Residence AND
visa counterfoil affixed to a foreign passport or a travel document (or PR card) and
your passport.
It's really fast :) took me 10 minutes, they issue you with your SI number immediately and your SIN card arrives about 3 weeks later.
The NB healthcare (Medicare) application form can be found here:

Congratulations again!!
