My wife and I are pretty close to being completed with our application.

I've been reading a while, and a question popped up that I was hoping to get some help with -

Last year I lived with my sister, and was paid to be her caretaker. I paid all rent/house bills, so my accountant listed her as MY dependent on my last tax return.

I have since moved out of the house - and she has never been listed as my dependent before, nor will she be listed again. She will not be coming with us to Canada.

I reported the job on my personal history - but will claiming her as a dependent on my tax return cause problems? Do I need to alert CIC of this at all?

Thanks!!

PS - RobsLuv... Hope your hearing went well -

Heather
Are you talked for your 2008 taxes?
I don't see it being a problem as on your 1040 under dependents they ask the relationship - you'd put sister, it's different than being a dependent for immigration
There's a difference in definition of dependent for tax purposes and immigration purposes just as there is a different definition of resident for tax purposes. I was a resident of Canada for tax purposes 16 months before I was a permanent resident in the eyes of Immigration.
