We sent in my husbands app for a Visitor Extension. However we sent the wrong receipt :( I call the 1-888 number and its all automated...we finally get transfered and no one is avaible to take our calls so we get disconnected. I'm very afraid he will get declined because of this. :(
What exactly do you mean by "the wrong receipt"? What's wrong about it?
If you already know your client ID number from a previous visitor or work permit, then when the call centre opens again on Monday morning you should be able to call, and get one of the agents to put a note on his file. You'll need to clearly explain the problem, though.

We sent the receipt that the site prints out and not the one with the Canadian flag on it they sent to our email. He doesn't have a client id number yet.
I don't remember the website giving something different (although it was a long time ago).
Does what you sent have the receipt number on it? Letter "R" followed by nine numbers? That's what they really need so they can find your payment in the system.
