My youngest son (16) and I just finalized our Landing the other day, when we got some disturbing news about my older son. The situation with lving with his father has become dire and due to lack of work and income may be forced out of the home. He was listed on my PR application as a unaccompanying dependant child because he was under the age of 22 and unmarried at the time of submission of the application. We had all his medical and criminal background checks done to satisfy the application process. Now he just turned 22 in January and wants to come and live in Canada with us. We would like to sponsor him, but his age makes him ineligible. He wouldn't qualify for the skill worker application as he hasn't worked for anyone other than his father, and that was part-time to say the least. Im really worried about his welfare and don't want him living on the streets. Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction as to what I can possibly do?
If he is in full-time education and qualifies as a dependent still, you can sponsor him:

If not, unfortunately there's nothing you can do. At some point CIC has to draw a line between children and adults, and make people apply on their own merits.

It's just a shame he wasn't listed as accompanying on the original application. I often suggest people in a situation like this with older dependents who have to be assessed anyway but don't want to come to Canada go ahead and get them the PR status anyway if possible, even if they don't plan to use it straight away, as that gives them up to 3 years to change their mind and decide they do actually want to come.
Thank you
